Evaluating data center availability is as much art as science.  While some variables are obvious, others are more subtle, yet still critical to the evaluation.   What are the basic calculations, and  how do you best interpret the results? Juan Orosco will share with us his extensive data center design and operations experience as it pertains to evaluating  Data center availability.  He will review the steps necessary to plan the evaluation, and discuss how to begin the process with the goals of improving facility MTBF and MTTR.  We will discuss the calculations involved , and what the numbers mean.

Biography:

Juan Orosco, P.E. is the Chief Technology Officer with TrendPoint Systems.

 

Mr. Orosco has 30 years of experience in Electrical Engineering.  His last 20 years have been spent in data center mission critical facility power distribution design, construction, commissioning and opperations.  During this time he has worked with the most significant names in the data center industry, having spent the last 7 years as the Electrical Engineering Technical Lead for Google, Inc.  

 

With a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, Juan started his career in mission critical work as a Weapon Systems Test Engineer for General Dynamics.  Prior to TrendPoint and Google he has had several roles that include Engineer of Record or technical lead for the design, construction and/or commissioning of several major mission critical projects for Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Mastercard, Visa, Facebook, Digital Realty Trust, Level 3, Intuit and T-Mobile (to name a few) while employed at Rosendin Electric, Mazzetti & Associates, and Carlson.  Before this, Juan designed systems for Highways and the BART rail system while working for the Parson’s Transportation Group, Caltrans, Econolite and NBA Engineering.
