Program:

“Smart Cities” is a phrase that gets a lot of airtime these days, but what exactly does it mean and how will it impact Southern Company?

From Wikipedia, “The smart city concept integrates information and communication technology (ICT), and various physical devices connected to the network (the Internet of things or IoT) to optimize the efficiency of city operations and services and connect to citizens.”  Business applications for Southern Company include leasing space on light and power poles, providing cities with “intelligence as a service”, ubiquitous Wi-Fi, and community and economic development.  As a new business line, it perfectly fits with our ongoing quest to make our customers’ lives better.

In this session, we will discuss current state of Southern Company’s Smart City initiatives as well as future opportunities
