Title: Oncor’s Distribution Operation Centers – Integrating Technology and Data Analytics
Overview: The DOCs at Oncor have leveraged the technologies of today to make the restoration of power a completely new experience. Our operators use an Outage Management System (OMS) that is fully integrated with: our Advanced Metering System (AMS), customer text message ETOR (estimated time of restoration) feedback, and the new customer picture upload platform WUPIT. The SCADA controlled devices on the distribution grid help sectionalize faulted areas safely, automatically and quickly; helping restore power to as many people as possible. With SCADA points and controls at nearly every substation, along with petabytes of meter data yearly, our engineers have learned the art of data science, and developed some practical use cases including: Load Forecasting Tools, Weather Damage Predication, Unauthorized DG detection, Cold Load Pick up Prediction, Fault Locating, Aerial Image Object recognition, and more.
