Workshop on "Application of Model Predictive Control in Modern Engineering"

IEEE IAS UOW Student Chapter proudly presents their next event "Application of Model Predictive Control in Modern Engineering" on 19th of July in 6.222 from 9:30 am - 11:00 am. This is a great opportunity for students to hear from an expert on the basics of MPC and gather ideas on its applications. Our speaker Dr. Massimo Fiorentini, currently a research fellow in SBRC worked on the application of modern control and optimization techniques for building energy management in his PhD project.

Dr Massimo Fiorentini is a Research Fellow at the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC) at University of Wollongong. He holds a Bachelors and Master’s Degree from Politecnico di Milano in Mechanical Engineering. He then obtained his PhD from University of Wollongong, collaborating with research scientists from the CSIRO Energy Centre. Massimo started his career at ABB as a Product Manager, continuing as a Researcher after completing his PhD. His research focuses on the development of advanced control and optimization strategies for building energy management and he’s working with SBRC’s industrial partners on the development of advanced embedded controllers for building systems’ management.
