Recent Developments in Power Electronic Interface

Power electronic interface is an important integrated part of the modern applications such as renewables, electric vehicles, battery charging and multilevel generation. The modern power electronic interfaces have multi output capabilities, better power density, wide range of voltage gain, improved power quality etc. In the talk, some of the cutting-edge developments in multi output converters, high voltage gain converters, bipolar converters for renewables will be discussed. In addition, high power density converters and unified loop for electric vehicle applications, optimal battery charging would be the part of the talk. Multilevel inverters are one of the popular research areas. Some of the recent advancements in the multi-level inverters, role of optimization technique in modern MLIs will be covered in the talk. Finally, recent digital current sensing techniques, its role in the current mode control of the power converters, and role of modern power electronics in internet of things (IOT).

Biography:

Dr. R. K. Singh (S’08-M’13-SM’16) received B. Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from College of Technology, Pantnagar, India in 2001, M. Tech. degree in Electrical Machines and Drives from Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, India in 2003 and Ph. D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India in 2013.

He is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi, one of the leading institutions in India since 2016. His research interests include renewable power conversion for hybrid microgrid, power conversion for electric vehicles/hybrid electric vehicles, optimal charging/discharging of energy storage system, and converter modelling and control. Dr. Singh has published several IEEE/IET transactions/journals and conference papers in last 5 years.
