Dear valued IEEE member, 

Hope you are doing well doing during this difficult time and most of you are likely to be working remotely. To keep as normal as we can with our routine, we are offering this month’s Section meeting by WebEx at our regular monthly Section meeting time.  Due to recent situation, we are unable to host face to face meeting and hope that this live WebEx meeting will bring new experience and continue to give opportunities to members for networking and keeping current with technologies.

Understanding EMC Receiver and Spectrum Analyzer Design Concepts

The output of all measurement instrument is effected not only by the instrument’s settings but also by the design concept of that instrument.  The more you understanding that design concept, the more you will know about the original input signal. The design concept of a modern EMC Receiver and Spectrum Analyzer will be explained and how that effects the output measurement results. Will show examples of how to use this understanding to troubleshoot EMI issue that are found in the measurement results.

 

Biography:

Scott Niemiec is an Applications Engineer with Rohde & Schwarz, supporting the Central US from his base in the Chicago area.  In addition to his extensive support of Spectrum & Network Analyzers for general purpose testing, Scott is also one of the primary Application Engineers supporting EMC test equipment and systems and radar test applications throughout the US. Before joining Rohde & Schwarz in 2012, Scott was a R&D Engineer with Nokia Siemens Networks in Arlington Heights, IL and prior to that he worked as a Senior Staff RF Engineer for Motorola Solutions in Arlington Heights, IL.  Scott has extensive background in research and development of complex RF architectures for wireless communication equipment and systems.  He holds a BSEE from Michigan Technological University.
