Technical Professionals LINUX Applications Group opening event


This event is the Technical Professionals' Linux Applications Group (TPLAG) opening event.

This resource group will offer software for chip, circuit and board design, as well as EE and system analysis tools, and more for all professional and most personal interests found in IEEE and MFESTS.  Support and prizes by CodeWeavers and others.

The morning Ubuntu installfest will offer options for PC and Mac to have "dual boot" (start either LINUX or other OS), boot from USB flash drive with no footprint in the computer, or full disk install (perhaps swapping laptop hard drives between Windows and Linux). The installfest Will show and support means to run Microsoft programs as fast or faster under Linux, and without licensing headaches. 

Afternoon presentations and access will begin with an introduction of the local operating system support groups followed by overview presenstations that include digital photography and image manipulation, Octave vs MatLab, and more.

Items to Bring:  Your Computer; an RJ-45 network cable--the longer the better; a power strip; a blank DVD-R or DVD+R or a blank 4GB USB flash drive (if you want to make an installable copy).
